A heavier duty 30 deg slant bed lathe is rigid and has a turret slide with an extended Y-axis crossfeed of +55mm to the 12 station driven turret for heavier duty milling cycles.
The latest Dugard Eagle NL 210SYn heavier duty 30 deg slant bed lathe has an extended Y-axis crossfeed of +55mm to the 12 station driven turret for heavier duty milling cycles and off-centre drilling applications.
The machine is being shown for the first time at EMO 2007 in Hannover on the C Dugard of Hove stand.
This heavier duty 30 deg slant bed lathe is rigid and uses high specification linear guideways to carry the turret slide to achieve a maximum cutting diameter of 350mm by 550mm cutting length.
Swing over bed is 600mm diameter, bar capacity is 65mm diameter and chuck size is 8in or 210mm.
The spindle bore is 77mm diameter and the programmable tailstock which has 780mm rapid travel at 7m/min for higher speed positioning has digital thrust force control that can be pre-set according to component length and diameter.
The spindle is powered by a 15kW drive having a maximum speed of 4,000 rev/min and the driven tool turret will accept driven tools up to 20mm diameter with a maximum speed of 4,000 rev/min.
Examples of metal removal include the following.
* When radial milling steel with a 20mm, four tooth cutter is 24cm3/min.
* Drilling with a 20 mm drill removing 32cm3/min.
* Tapping a M20 x 2.5p thread is at 160 rev/min.
* C Dugard at EMO 2007, Hannover, Germany, September 17-22, Hall 26, Stand E39.
